Our body is a very interesting mechanism – it can adjust and adapt to various irritations and factors. Hot weather is one of them. A healthy person tolerates the heat one way or another, but the weakened body of an elderly person in particular suffers from the summer heat.

When the thermometers show +30 and above, the body cannot work normally. Overload of organs and systems is characterized by general weakness, rapid heartbeat and malaise in general. Don’t underestimate the heat. Sultry weather can lead to terrible consequences – heart attack, stroke and even death.

Overheating of the body is a real stress for internal organs. Why? Oxygen does not reach them in the right amount, because the blood thickens very much.

The brain suffers very much from lack of oxygen – a person may feel nauseous, dizzy. In the summer, fainting is a very common phenomenon.

As they say, warned means armed. If you follow simple rules and tips, you can minimize the effect of heat on the body, or even avoid it. What should I do?

  • Follow the weather forecast

If the weather is forecast to be hot in the next few days, it is better not to plan trips somewhere, long walks, etc. You need to avoid the heat and reduce or completely eliminate outdoor activities during the hottest hours (from 11 to 17). Direct sunlight should be avoided.

  • Wear headdress and light clothes

This point is simply out of the discussion. It is simply forbidden to go outside without a headdress, otherwise heat stroke is guaranteed. It is also worth choosing light clothes made of light fabrics, not wearing synthetics – it does not allow the body to breathe.

  • Drink a lot of water

If the water consumption rate for a person is 1.5 liters per day, then in the summer it should be increased almost twice. but! The water should NOT be cold. Even such temperature changes are stressful for the body.

  • Measure blood pressure

An elderly person needs to be very careful about his physical condition during the days of summer heat. It is necessary to control blood pressure, it is also worth going to an appointment with your doctor, perhaps he will change the course of treatment or add drugs that will help to cope with the negative effects of heat on the body.
