Prostakan Forte is a phytopharmaceutical, urological agent. The combination of extracts of Palm Serenoa repens (containing liposterol) and nettle root exerts an antiandrogenic effect in the target prostate tissue, primarily by inhibition (blockade) of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, thereby reducing the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (the active form of male sex hormone) and inhibition (blockade) of the enzyme aromatase, with a subsequent decrease in intracellular intracellular protein production). As a result, among other things, the further increase in the volume of prostate tissue is limited. The combination of extracts leads to an increase in the urine stream and an improvement in difficulty urinating, at the same time it also has a mild anti-inflammatory and anti-edema (swelling-reducing) effect.
Without consulting a doctor, Prostakan Forte is taken when:
- Benign prostatic hyperplasia (benign prostatic hyperplasia), especially its initial stages (stages I-II).
- In middle-aged and older men with functional problems associated with benign prostatic hyperemia, such as frequent urination (especially at night), difficult onset and increased effort during urination, weak urinary flow, a feeling of imperfect emptying of the bladder, etc. in addition, Prostakan Forte is taken after consultation with a doctor
- Supportive treatment after prostate surgery, chronic prostatitis( inflammation of the prostate), possibly, even in women, irritating bladder.
